HERMLE showcasing five machining centres at AMB 2024
Precision and reliability combined with automation
HERMLE is set to present five machining centres from the Performance Line and the High Performance Line series at this year’s AMB in Stuttgart, Germany. Two machining centres are automated, and one machining centre demonstrates 13 technology solutions on a single component.
Maschinenfabrik Berthold HERMLE AG will be exhibiting its innovative solutions at Stand C31 in Hall 7 at AMB. On a C 42 U MT (mill/turn) machine, HERMLE presents a technological showcase of the highest calibre. Thirteen manufacturing technologies combined in a single component clearly demonstrate the performance of HERMLE products.
Contour smoothing | reverse countersinking | diamond smoothing | power skiving | simultaneous deburring | grinding / dressing | interpolation turning | drilling Ø 70 with the C axis | temperature probes | ultrasonic probes | ACM (Adaptive Control and Monitoring) - all combined in one component.
Process monitoring is demonstrated on another machine, thereby comparing the current machining process with a reference process.
Needless to say, two 5-axis machining centres with automation solutions will also be presented. The proportion of HERMLE machining centres delivered with automation solutions has now risen to over 50%. Both an RS 1 robot system adapted to a C 32 machining centre and an HS flex handling system adapted to a 5-axis C 42 Generation 2 machining centre will be on show.
GEN2 is the ongoing transition towards a new machine generation of the future. Numerous software and hardware components now feature cutting-edge technology. The energy efficiency of the entire machine (cooling units of the switch cabinet and spindle) has been further enhanced in combination with the high-pressure systems. In the future, many of the auxiliary units will transition to frequency-controlled drives, allowing for demand-driven and thus more energy-efficient closed-loop control. In addition to the financial benefits for our customers, this also allows us to make a real contribution to climate protection.
Additional information about GEN2 is available on our website. (PR HERMLE_GEN2_2024)
The C 32 with the RS 1 robot system is a top-tier automation solution. The robot system is designed to be adapted to one or two machines. However, the economic advantages lie in the modularity and integration of double hybrid grippers, the ability to change clamping devices and grippers, an extensive storage capacity in the various storage modules and the flexible handling of pallets, dies and workpieces.
More HERMLE products will be on show at EMUGE-FRANKEN (Stand G43 in Hall 1), which will be using a HERMLE C 32 to present its highly innovative milling tools.
As part of the Special Youth Show in the Atrium of Messe Stuttgart, HERMLE trainees will present another machine model from the Performance Line series, the C 250. The joint project sees the front apron of a Formula 1 racing car being milled. However, the focus is primarily on training and the Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau foundation’s initiative for young talent.
